Logical Block Addressing (LBA)
LOGICAL BLOCK ADDRESSING (LBA) is a hard drive address scheme that overcomes the 528 megabyte address limit of BIOS. It is currently the most popular addressing scheme in use. The BIOS must be capable of recognizing LBA addressing. If the BIOS can recognize the LBA addressing, the 'LBA MODE' will be made available as a selectable option for the drive in BIOS setup. This option must be selected correctly prior to the drive's installation otherwise the drive may not be formatted correctly.
